We recently launched a new starter website, www.alexgrohlproduction.com, for a composer and music producer, built using the Wix Classic Editor.
The Project Challenge: A High-Impact Launch on a Tight Schedule
The project's primary goal was the rapid creation of a presentation website to serve as a professional digital portfolio. The key requirements were to showcase curated music playlists (Wix Audio), feature examples of the music used in video content (Wix Pro Gallery), and provide clear links to the artist's music on other platforms.
Our Solution: Leveraging the Wix Platform
To meet this challenge, we implemented key functionalities essential for a music professional. We integrated music playlist functionality, a gallery to showcase video content, and a contact form for lead generation and licensing inquiries. The site layout is fully optimized for both desktop and mobile devices.
The site employs best practices in modern web design and animation, all achievable within the Wix Classic Editor, to create a contemporary and responsive user experience.
Why Wix Classic Editor Was the Optimal Choice
This project serves as an excellent case study for why choosing the right tool is more important than choosing the newest one. The Wix Classic Editor proved to be the optimal solution for this specific situation.
While the Classic Editor shares the same powerful backend and business ecosystem functions as the newer Wix Studio (e.g., eCommerce, Bookings), it has one crucial advantage that was decisive for this project: app compatibility. The Wix Audio app, which was a key requirement for the client's portfolio, is currently only available in the Wix Classic Editor. It is not yet supported in Wix Studio.
By identifying this critical business need before development began, we were able to select the correct platform (Wix Classic) that fulfilled 100% of the project requirements without costly workarounds. This highlights a strategic approach: the choice of platform should always be driven by the client's specific functional needs.
