The Studio Two editor saves changes automatically, and you can also save manually from the Studio Two dropdown or with Ctrl + S (Windows) or Cmd + S (Mac). To check your work, click Preview at the top right. To go live, click Publish and confirm in the popup.

Before you start

  • You need access to the site in the Studio Two editor, not the classic Studio editor.

  • A test site can only be created after the site has been published at least once.

  • For a custom domain, you need a premium plan with a domain bought from Wix or connected from another host.

Step by step

  1. Rely on automatic saving. The editor saves your work as you design. An indicator appears at the top left of the editor each time a save happens.

  2. Save manually when needed. Open the Studio Two dropdown at the top left, hover over Site and click Save. The shortcut is Ctrl + S on Windows and Cmd + S on Mac.

  3. Open Site History to restore a version. Open the Studio Two dropdown, hover over Site and click Site History. The history lists every save and publish by you or a contributor, shows who made each change and lets you restore an earlier version.

  4. Start a preview. Click Preview at the top right of the editor. This shows a live version of the site before you publish. To preview another page, pick it from the page dropdown at the top first.

  5. Test different screen sizes. In preview, choose a device from the screen size dropdown, enter a width and height in pixels, or drag the handles to change the width. Dragging helps you check how the layout responds.

  6. Preview on your phone. Click the Preview on mobile device icon at the top right of the preview and scan the QR code with your phone.

  7. Preview a test site. Open the Preview dropdown and choose Preview as Test Site. It opens in a new tab. To return, open the dropdown again and select Preview in Editor. For mobile, choose Preview on a mobile device and scan the QR code.

  8. Publish the site. Click Publish at the top right of the editor, then select Publish in the popup. You can also click Publish from within preview, or click Edit Site to keep working.

  9. Schedule a publish if required. You can set the site to publish automatically at an exact date and time with Wix Automations. This suits larger launches or updates.

Good to know

  • The first publish gives the site a URL. A free site uses the format accountname.wixstudio.io/site-name.

  • A premium site can use its own domain, whether bought from Wix or connected from another host.

  • New sites start with two breakpoints: desktop at 1024px and up, and mobile from 320 to 1023px. Use the side handles in preview to check the full range of a breakpoint.

  • If the preview looks wrong, check that you are viewing the right breakpoint and clear your browser cache to see the latest version.

  • Site History logs both saves and publishes, so you can see when the site was last saved or published and by whom.

parnii note

Check every page at both default breakpoints, using the drag handles, before you click Publish. Publish once early, so a test site is available for collecting feedback from collaborators.

FAQ

Does the Studio Two editor save automatically?

Yes. Every change saves automatically, and an indicator at the top left of the editor shows when a save happens. You can also save manually with Ctrl + S or Cmd + S.

How do I restore an earlier version of a Studio Two site?

Open the Studio Two dropdown, hover over Site and click Site History. There you can see each save and publish, who made it, and restore a previous version.

Why does my site look different in preview?

Most often you are viewing a different breakpoint than expected, or your browser is showing a cached version. Check the screen size and breakpoint, then clear your browser cache.
