Your AI chat can build a Wix Harmony site today: no need to wait for Studio Two

You don't have to wait for Wix Studio Two (also written as Studio 2) to build a Wix site with the AI chat you already use. Wix Harmony, Wix's AI-first editor released in January 2026, can be driven by an outside AI agent today through wix-harmony-editor, a skill Wix publishes on GitHub. We tested it with Claude: the agent rebuilt a two-page Studio Two template on a blank Harmony site, desktop and mobile, and we recorded the whole session.

Status: the skill sits in Wix's public skills repository, which is marked experimental. It works through the Harmony editor's internal API for AI tools, so behaviour can change without notice. Moving Harmony sites to Studio Two is listed as coming soon.

Three ways to build with AI on Wix right now

Harmony already has an AI agent inside the editor. Aria builds pages and sections, writes text and changes designs from a chat panel. There is also a Wix app for ChatGPT: you tag @wix in a conversation and it creates a new Harmony site from what you discussed.

The third way is less known. Your own coding agent, running on your computer, opens the Harmony editor in a separate browser and works through the same programming interface the editor uses for its AI tools. This is what the wix-harmony-editor skill does. The differences matter in practice:

  • Aria works inside the editor and sees your site, but according to the Help Center only in the desktop view. Mobile adjustments stay manual.

  • ChatGPT with @wix is made for starting a site from a conversation. Ongoing changes then happen in the editor or through the Wix MCP connection.

  • Your agent with the skill can follow a long, exact task: measure a reference page, rebuild it element by element, check the result at fixed screen widths and fix what is off, on desktop and mobile.

How the Wix Harmony skill works

The skill is a folder of instructions and scripts for coding agents. It installs from github.com/wix/skills into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and other tools. When you give it the address of your site in the editor, it starts a separate Chrome profile on your computer. You sign in to Wix in that window yourself, and the agent connects to the browser locally. Wix uses the same approach for mobile apps: Himalaya, its upcoming platform for native apps, also starts with a skill for your coding agent.

From there the agent sends small pieces of code to the editor: find a component, change its text, place it in a section, switch to the mobile view, save. After each write it reads the page back, because the editor's answer to a write is not proof that the page looks right.

Before Wix Studio Two arrives, your AI chat can already drive the Harmony editor.

The skill sets clear limits. The agent asks before a persistent change unless you already asked for exactly that change. It never publishes without an explicit request. It touches only what the page shows, not store, booking or contact data in the dashboard, and it never uses your normal browser profile.

Our test: a Studio Two template rebuilt on Harmony

For the test we picked Nadine Hoch, a Studio Two template for an interior designer with two pages, Home and Contact. The task for Claude was to transfer its design onto a blank Harmony site as precisely as possible. We recorded the browser while the agent worked.

The agent followed the copy method that ships with the skill:

  1. Measure. Open the template in a browser and record the position, size, font and colour of every text and image at 1280 pixels.

  2. Bring the media. Upload the template's images to the new site's Media Manager.

  3. Describe and check. Turn the measurements into a page description and test it locally for overlaps, wrapped lines and elements outside their section.

  4. Deploy. Build the page in the editor in one pass, read every element back and correct differences.

  5. Split and arrange. Cut the page into sections, then set the mobile order section by section.

  6. Verify. Open Preview at exact widths and compare with the template.

The result: Home has 60 elements in 8 sections, Contact has 23 elements in 3 sections. On desktop, element positions differ from the template by 3 pixels at most, and the layout scales the same way between 1280 and 1440 pixels. The mobile version is a single readable column in the order we chose. The recording covers 71 minutes of editor work. Measuring the template and adapting the scripts took extra time before that.

71 minutes in 80 seconds: Claude measures a Wix Studio Two template, rebuilds it in the Harmony editor, fixes the layout section by section, arranges the mobile view and checks Preview.

You can open the template and our Harmony copy side by side. If you compare them with Wix's own Studio Two templates, keep in mind that the copy is built from Harmony's standard elements, not from the template's code.

What the agent had to work around

Most of the time went into small layout rules that the editor enforces and a person rarely notices:

  • Anchored layout. Each element is placed relative to the one above it. A heading that wraps onto one extra line pushes everything below it down, so the agent gave single-line texts a little spare width and sent the heights the editor would actually use.

  • No overlaps. The editor rejects a whole section layout if two boxes overlap by even one pixel. Widening a box had to respect its neighbours.

  • Shared image heights. Positions and widths can differ between desktop and mobile, image heights cannot. The agent switched images between fill and fit to get a clean mobile look without changing desktop.

  • Global header and footer. They resize badly, so the agent collapsed them and rebuilt the navigation inside the page's own sections.

  • Line breaks. A line break inside a paragraph was refused, so address lines were joined.

  • Leftovers. Adding a page left an empty placeholder section that had to be removed.

What did not transfer

Some parts of the template needed a person or a compromise:

  • The contact form. The editor API can edit an existing form, but a form was not among the elements it could add on our site. The form panel on our Contact page is a picture; a working Wix Form takes one manual step in the editor.

  • The logo. The template's SVG logo became a text logo.

  • The anchor link. The template's work link scrolls to its projects through an anchor that Wix stores in site data, not in the page code. The copy lost it, and the API offers no way to create anchors, so we pointed the link at the section itself.

  • Legal pages. Privacy, terms and accessibility pages were not part of the test; their links lead to Home.

An earlier test: a section from a picture

Before this experiment we ran a smaller test on another Harmony site. From a reference image, the agent added a comparison section at the top of the home page, with a heading, an introduction and a four-column table, and checked it on desktop and mobile before we published it.

Two findings from that round matter for anyone trying this:

  • We found no built-in typewriter effect for the heading, so the agent built the animation in an HTML embed. It worked on the live site, but the heading now sits inside an iframe instead of the page itself, which is a trade-off for editing and probably for search. Wix's own AI tool for animation is Ani-Mate, which we cover in Ani-Mate and Wix Interact.

  • On a second Harmony site, the same command for adding a section failed inside the editor before anything was written. One failed call is not a statistic, but it shows that a documented method does not guarantee success on every site.

Where it stops working

  • Code and CSS. Harmony has no site code, backend or custom CSS, according to Wix's developer docs. You can still add HTML, JavaScript and CSS snippets as custom code. For a code layer, Wix points to Wix Studio. Studio Two adds React code to the same infrastructure as Harmony; we compare the two in Studio Two vs Wix Studio and look at the code side in our technical review.

  • Business data. Store products, bookings and blog posts belong in the dashboard. The skill expects that data to be in place before the agent builds pages around it.

  • Internal API. The interface the agent uses is the editor's own, not a public API. A change on Wix's side can break a working script.

How to try it

  1. Start with a new site. Create a blank Harmony site or use one you can afford to break. Open it in the editor and copy the address from the browser.

  2. Install the skills. In Claude Code, add the marketplace wix/skills and install the Wix plugin. The repository describes the steps for Codex, Cursor, VS Code and Gemini CLI.

  3. Prepare your computer. The scripts need Node.js and Playwright. Keep the working folder on a path without spaces; ours broke on one.

  4. Hand over the editor address. Ask the agent to open it with the skill. A separate Chrome window appears and you sign in there yourself.

  5. Describe the task. For a copy, give the source page address and the pages you want. For edits, name the section and the result you expect, and ask for Preview screenshots at desktop and mobile widths.

  6. Review and publish. Check the draft in Preview. Publishing stays your decision.

parnii note

We would use this for rebuilding layouts and for repetitive edits on new Harmony sites, with a person on sign-in, review and publishing. It does not replace a designer, but it removes hours of pixel pushing. If you want to test it on your own project, we can set it up with you.

FAQ

Do I need access to Wix Studio Two to build a site with AI on Wix?

No. Wix Harmony is available now, and an AI agent can edit a Harmony site through the wix-harmony-editor skill. Wix plans to let Harmony sites move to Studio Two; the Studio Two page lists this as coming soon.

Can Aria edit the mobile version of a Harmony site?

Not according to the Wix Help Center: Aria works in the desktop view only, so mobile changes are manual. In our test, an agent with the skill also arranged the mobile layout through the editor's API.

Does the skill work with Wix Studio sites?

Not for editing. The skill is for Harmony sites only. Newer Wix Studio sites opened in the Harmony editor in our test, but their older elements could not be changed and adding a section failed.

Is the wix-harmony-editor skill official?

Wix publishes it in its public skills repository on GitHub, which is marked experimental. It works through the editor's internal API, so it can change without notice.
